The Minutes First Read-Through

The Minutes is thrilling and essential theater that interrogates the present by laying bare how history is written.

– Naveen Kumar of Variety

This past Saturday, our cast and crew gathered for our first read-through, and it was an inspiring start to what promises to be a remarkable production. The energy in the room was palpable as our talented actors began to bring this powerful script to life.

After the read-through, we celebrated with Mexican food and a fabulous selection of wine from Mike’s cellar. It’s always good to keep a cast well fed. I can already tell this will be a production to remember. It was heartwarming to see the cast, crew and plus ones get to know each other. There were stimulating conversations all around me.

Here is the first photo from our first gathering to give you a sneak peek behind the scenes. Introducing William, Charlene and Colin! Stay tuned for more! We are all incredibly excited to share this show with you and can’t wait to see you in the audience.

As we are not using a traditional theatre venue, we are working with Humanitix to set up a ticket buying service. We picked Humanitix because it is a non-profit and donates its profits to worthy causes. Tickets should be available in a couple of weeks. Look for our ‘Early Bird’ discount!

Thank you for your continued support of our Theatre Aezir. Your enthusiasm and patronage make everything we do possible.

Exciting Cast Announcement

It is with great delight that I announce the cast for our November production of The Minutes by Tracy Letts. Variety says, “it’s among the best new plays on Broadway in years”. It was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2018 and the Tony Award for Best Play in 2022.   The play – a comedy, a mystery, an allegory has a cast of 11. It was challenging to cast, and we had a few bumps in the road along the way, but we have assembled a stellar group of actors. We call this class of play an ensemble show. Meaning every character, although some have more lines than others, is equally important. And as the cast develops an exceptionally tight working relationship you will be the benefactor. The cast has some favourite actors that you know well, and we are thrilled to be able to introduce you to some new faces to the London theatrical scene.

Chris Bancroft – Mayor Superba
Tim Bourgard – Mr. Oldfield
Josh Cottrell – Mr. Breeding
Caroline Dolny Guerin – Ms. Innes
William Foley – Mr. Hanratty
Colin Legge – Mr. Assalone
Charlene McNabb – Ms. Matz
Melissa Metler – Ms. Johnson
Demis Odanga – Mr. Blake
Tyler Lionel Parr – Mr. Peel
Mike Wisniowski – Mr. Carp

Please join me in welcoming this outstanding group of actors to Theatre Aezir’s production of The Minutes!

Hold the dates below because you are not going to want to miss our fall production The Minutes by Tracy Letts. This dark comedy about small town politics should be on your must see list. 10 performances only – Save the dates – November 7 – 17, 2024. More information to follow.

BIG NEWS!

THEATRE AEZIR BECOMES A NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION

As you know last spring when we did The Phoenix Lottery, we became a professional company hiring Equity Actors. That was a big step for us. Today we are announcing that Theatre Aezir is now officially a Canadian Not-For-Profit Corporation. What comes with this new designation is more structure and organisation. Our first board of directors includes myself as president, David Pasquino as Treasurer and Caroline Bonham as Secretary. We are looking to add more board members so, if any of you are interested in helping Theatre Aezir grow let’s get together and chat.

We are extremely excited about this new development. Many more funding sources are now open to us. We also have started the process to become a registered charity with the CRA. That will take a few months more. You might think of saving now for the future. LOL

We have a new website and new email addresses. We are revamping our marketing and publicity to include a new social media program and print ads. You might have seen our ad for Marion Bridge in The Grand’s “The Invisible” program.

This is important enough news to have its own post. But just so you don’t have to go looking for it. Here’s the ticket link to Marion Bridge
