The Story

Transport yourself to Etaples, France, 1918. In the heart of the Great War, Nurses Christy, Maggie, and Bab have crossed oceans to care for wounded Canadian soldiers. While the men of the world are embroiled in a cycle of destruction, these three women find themselves in a place where they can finally discover their own friendship, independence, and influence.

Despite the staggering injuries they treat daily and the looming dangers as the front lines draw closer to their hospital, they manage to remain hopeful. As they become accustomed to the heavy duties of their station, they begin to reveal their private lives to one another and through heartfelt letters to those they love.

Meet the Women

• Maggie: Back home, she lived with a close friend; now, she finds herself constantly worrying about what their future together will look like after the war.
• Christy: She diligently writes to her husband on the front, yet she struggles with the growing realization that there is a vast difference between the life she is expected to lead with him and the life she truly wants.
• Bab: She finds herself longing for the unattainable—her beloved Grandpa, a child of her own, and the affection of a married soldier.
